A restaurant’s atmosphere and the people you eat with can have just as much impact on flavor as the ingredients used.

Since we opened Kitsune Sushi in May of 2020, many customers of all ages have told us the restaurant feels like home.

Our bright and relaxing atmosphere encourages conversation with our unique staff. We put our heart and soul into making the best sushi for our patrons. 

Here in Sendagi, we hope you can consider Kitsune Sushi your home.

いなり寿司

常に、皆様に喜ばれる店でありたい。


そんな思いを込めて、喜常寿司と名付けました。「きつね」と読みます。

We want to be a restaurant that pleases everyone and with that in mind, we named our restaurant “Sushi kitsune.” The restaurant’s name can mean “always happiness” or “fox.”

In Japan, the fox is an auspicious god for food. Inari sushi, a fried tofu pocket filled with seasoned rice, is named after the god of foxes. The local Nezu Shrine, which we have visited since we were children, is dedicated to Inari and the fox appears in our store’s logo as well.
As Inari is also a god of love, a matchmaking menu devised by the chef’s wife may appear soon! Don’t miss it!

After more than 20 years as a sushi chef, the expressions of enjoyment and smiles on diners’ faces remain my greatest motivation and are a constant source of happiness.

I never get tired of sushi.

The ways to enjoy a fish vary based on the seasons, the source and the portion of the fish used.
As a sushi chef who takes his children out to eat sushi even on my days off, my greatest dream is to prepare sushi side-by-side with my son.

女将About Madam Chef

日本生まれ、ケニア育ち。

5歳から20歳までケニアで過ごし、英語とスワヒリ語が堪能なトリリンガル。

The chef’s wife was born in Japan but grew up in Kenya from the age of 5 to 20. She is trilingual, speaking Japanese, English and Swahili.

Additive-free and unprocessed. Kitsune Sushi is influenced by the organic, nurturing spirit of the land of Africa.

She originally returned to Japan for culinary studies with a dream of opening a Japanese restaurant in Kenya. However the quality of seafood available in Japan was simply beyond compare. Being able to eat fresh, delicious sushi on a daily basis is unique to Japan.

Having graduated from culinary school with a top score, she is responsible for Kitsune’s side menus and delicious homemade sweets.

その「波」は突然やってきたのです。


関係者の方々、応援してくださった皆様、地元の皆様、たくさんのご協力のもと完成した店舗は思い描いていた以上のものとなり、スタッフにも恵まれました。


当店にはマニュアルがありません。  
握り方も、お話も、おひとりおひとり目の前のお客様と向き合う心を大切にしています。

すべてのお客様に安心してお召し上がりいただき、心地よく過ごしていただけるよう、全力を尽くしてまいります。

“I want my own restaurant.”

This was our shared dream.

The madam chef believed in her heart it would come true.

And finally it has.

We are tremendously grateful for all the support of those who helped us get here, including our staff and the local community. The result has been even better than we hoped.

There is no “manual” at our restaurant.

Both the sushi’s preparation and the interactions with our customers are cherished.

We do our utmost to ensure our customers can enjoy themselves in peace and comfort.

I happened to meet the madam chef, like sunshine from Kenya in Sendagi, when I moved back to Tokyo from overseas. I love to eat, and I’m always a big fan of the owner-chef’s delicious and generous sushi.

In the summer of 2020, the connection to Sushi Kitsune mid-pandemic gave me an opportunity to jump into the world of web design. This restaurant really is my power spot!

Meeting people can make a big difference or open up your life … Something you sometimes want to call “guided by fate.”

Who to meet, who to eat with, who to live with … As a friend, as a regular customer, and as one who opened the door to dreams by meeting the chef’s family. I hope that the smile that is born here in Sushi Kitsune will spread and unite more and more.
